Kirk Rousset, M.D.


Dr. Kirk Rousset is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a member of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Medical Association, the Southern Medical Association, the American Fertility Society, the American Society of Anesthesiology, American Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists and Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. 

Dr. Rousset is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Director in Critical Care Obstetrics and Minimally Invasive Pelvic Surgery at LSU Health Sciences Center. He is a native of New Orleans and has been practicing in Baton Rouge since 1984. He received his Medical Doctorate from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1979. He completed his internship and residencies in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Anesthesiology from LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans in 1983 and 1993, respectively.

Special Medical Interests:

Dr. Rousset specializes in obstetrics and gynecology as well as the following surgeries: 

  • Reconstructive vaginal/labial surgery
  • Minimally invasive pelvic surgery (including total vaginal hysterectomy, laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy, total laparoscopic hysterectomy, endometrial ablation and hysteroscopy)
  • Advanced gynecologic laparoscopic surgery (including laparoscopic treatment of endometriosis and infertility, and laser laparoscopy)
  • DaVinci robotic surgery
