While we take pride in our history, our main focus is always centered on what is best for women today. LWH is proud to invest in the latest medical technology to provide you with state-of-the-art care.
As part of our comprehensive range of services, our physicians work to create a healthier community by finding disease early. Regular screenings are key to detecting health conditions before they become serious. Your physician can help determine which health screenings might be appropriate for you based on your health history and age. The information your physician gathers from regular screenings can help detect issues early - when they are the most treatable.
It's here, and it's GENIUS!
We are proud to be the first physician group in Louisiana to offer Genius 3D Mammography by Hologic, an advanced imaging system that detects breast cancer sooner. Offered in our advanced Mammography Department, each 3D mammogram is performed and analyzed by our in-house, board certified breast radiologists.
In the fight against breast cancer, Genius 3D Mammography is a more accurate screening method than traditional 2D mammography exams. Our state-of-the-art machine takes multiple images of breast tissue from different angles, giving your physician an enhanced image to evaluate layer by layer. 3D mammography detects 41% more invasive breast cancers and reduces callback rates by up to 40%, giving you peace of mind.

As women age their bone strength naturally decreases, making bones fragile and prone to breaking. External factors including genetics, lifestyle choices and certain medications can affect the rate at which your bone mineral density decreases and increase your risk of developing osteoporosis. While the osteoporosis can have a serious effect has on your quality of life, it is detectable and treatable.
Bone mineral density (BMD) testing is the preferred method for early detection of osteoporosis. We utilize Discovery by Hologic, a system that offers the most comprehensive platform for complete bone health assessment.
While there is no cure for osteoporosis, it is possible to prevent, slow or stop its progress with early detection and treatment.
Genetic testing can help you and your physician determine the likelihood of you developing certain diseases based on your unique genetic makeup. As part of our dedication to helping women take control of their health, we're proud to offer genetic testing through Myriad. A nationally-recognized and certified genetic testing service, Myriad is dedicated to saving lives through transformative diagnostic products. We use the two genetic screening methods listed below to learn more about your inherited risk for cancer. It's important to realize that just because you have an increased risk for cancer based on your genes does not definitively mean that you will develop cancer. After receiving your screening results, your physician will work with you to structure a proactive plan to help manage your risk.
The Myriad myRisk Hereditary Cancer test uses a panel of 25 genes to identify elevated risk for eight cancers:
Recent studies have shown that myRisk testing increases the detection of mutated genes that could cause these cancers by 40 to 50 percent. As part of your myRisk test results, you will also receive a medical management report with recommendations from leading professional medical societies based on your individual test results.
Also offered through Myriad, BRACAnalysis is a genetic test that detects the presence of BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutation. These specific gene mutations are responsible for the majority of hereditary breast and ovarian cancers, and women with these mutations who have been previously diagnosed with cancer have a significantly increased risk of developing a second primary cancer. The benefits of the BRACAnalysis test are significant in the prevention and early diagnosis of cancer caused by BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutation. Once your results are received, a comprehensive medical management plan will help your physician structure a personalized plan to reduce your risk of cancer. This may include increased screening and counseling for you and your family members about underlying causes of breast and/or ovarian cancer.
